Marvel star Kumail Nanjiani has made a big revelation about Hollywood’s unwillingness to cast nonwhite actors as villains. In a recently published interview, the Pakistani-American actor said people warned him about hesitating to cast non-white people as the bad guys in movies.
Nanjiani has expressed his desire to play a wider variety of roles like fellow Marvel actor Sebastian Stan. He praised his counterpart for starring in big Marvel movies where he often plays a psychopath character.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis recently signed a much-heralded bill among conservatives dissolving Walt Disney World’s self-governing status in his state. The move is a clap back for Disney’s woke opposition to the state’s “Parental Rights in Education” bill.
In principle, the company’s position in the state allowed Disney to operate as its own local government. This included the ability to control utilities, levy taxes, build roads, and even run its own fire department. The bill signed by DeSantis will eliminate Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District, with several others to follow.
“You’re a corporation based in Burbank, California, and you’re gonna marshal your economic might to attack the parents of my state,” Gov DeSantis said. “We view that as a provocation, and we’re going to fight back against that.”
