Republicans Exceed Democratic Voter Registrations In Florida

In a win for conservatives across America, the Republican Party recently revealed that the number of registered Republicans in Florida has exceeded that of Democrats by nearly 1 million.

On March 29, 2024, the Florida Division of Elections announced that registered GOP voters in the Sunshine State outnumbered Democrats by close to 1 million. The agency noted that Republican voter registration had surpassed that of Democrats by nearly 900,000, totaling more than 5 million.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) responded to the development on social media, noting the shift from a Democratic to a Republican majority in voter registration since 2021. The Florida governor predicts that the massive gap will continue increasing.

“Prior to 2021, FL never had more registered Republicans than Democrats,” DeSantis wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Now, a million voter R registration advantage is within reach. Hillsborough (Tampa) is about to flip from D to R, which will mean every county in the Tampa Bay market has an R advantage in this previously ‘swing’ region of the state.”

Republican registration in Florida skyrocketed as the state saw significant population growth since 2021, with nearly 500,000 individuals relocating between July 2021 and July 2022, according to the Washington Examiner. In March 2022, the GOP led Democrats in voter registration by just over 100,000. Such a figure has grown to nearly 900,000.

The Florida GOP expressed optimism over these figures and expects a strong outing in the forthcoming election in November 2024. Despite the massive gap in registration, Republicans in the state are determined to stay alert and continue their efforts.

Since March 2024, the Democratic Party has lost more than 1,000 voters, while the Republican Party has increased its registrations by over 30,000. State Republicans are on the brink of flipping two counties that have heavily favored Democrats in the past, including Hillsborough County and Madison County.

Florida Republicans have dominated Democrats in 56 of the state’s 67 counties, according to Florida’s Voice. Democrats are close to losing Duval County. Miami-Dade County, which used to be a Democratic stronghold, supported DeSantis in 2022 and is further moving toward the right.
