Abbott Handed Blistering Letter To Biden During Border Visit

Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbot handed President Joe Biden a blistering letter criticizing the president’s handling of the border. Abbot gave Biden the letter when the president landed in El Paso on Sunday.

Abbot, who compared the current administration’s handling of the border to how former President Donald Trump managed it, told Biden that Americans are suffering from his border policies. Abbot told Biden that the federal government recorded low levels of illegal immigration under Trump.

“Under your watch, by contrast, America is suffering the worst illegal immigration in the history of our country,” Abbot wrote. “Your open-border policies have emboldened the cartels, who grow wealthy by trafficking deadly fentanyl and even human beings.”

Abbot told Biden that Texans are paying a high price — sometimes with their lives — for his border policies. Abbot added that the ongoing crisis at the southern border is because Biden has violated his constitutional obligation to defend the States.

While Abbot maintained that the president’s border visit was “$20 billion too little and two years too late,” he gave Biden some advice on how to fix the border.

Abbot urged Biden to “aggressively prosecute illegal entry” and allow the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to remove illegal immigrants per existing federal laws.

Abbot told Biden to continue building the border wall in Texas and stop blocking the implementation of the Remain-in-Mexico policy and Title 42 expulsion. Abbot also urged Biden to follow his example and designate the Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

“On behalf of all Americans, I implore you: Secure our border by enforcing Congress’s immigration laws,” Abbot concluded.

Abbot’s criticism of Biden comes after Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick told Fox News that the president’s visit will change anything and could make things worse.

“This president doesn’t want to know what’s going on,” Patrick said of Biden. “He didn’t see any illegal immigrants. They cleaned up and sanitized El Paso before he got there. It was another tour stop at El Paso like Kamala Harris took.”

Patrick added that Biden’s Biden’s expanded parole program that grants work visas to 360,000 people a year would exacerbate the border crisis.
