Washington-based Microsoft Corporation acknowledged an employee compensation policy that allows White employees to earn less than Black counterparts doing the same jobs in a new diversity and inclusion report — in fact, the giant global software maker bragged about it in the update.
The West Coast software giant says paying White employees less money for the same work than it pays Black employees is part of what it calls a “pay equity” policy. The shocking admission is in the company’s 2023 Diversity and Inclusion Report, a slick presentation showing off the company’s support for the woke diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda.
“All racial and ethnic minority groups who are rewards eligible combined earn $1.007 total pay for every $1.000 earned by US rewards-eligible white employees with the same job title and level and considering tenure,” says the Microsoft diversity report.
Libs of TikTok got the scoop and posted the highlight from the report with the note, “HOLY SHLIT. In Microsoft’s official 2023 Diversity & Inclusion report, they openly admit that they are paying white people LESS than other ethnic groups in the name of ‘pay equity.’”

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk — who has some experience in hiring for a global, cutting-edge technology company — piped in on the thread to ask, “Is that legal?”
“No,” Libs of TikTok replied.

Other posts in response to the report on X, formerly Twitter, suggested that White employees for Microsoft may have legal grounds to file a lawsuit against their employer for financially harming them on the basis of their race.

The Microsoft report goes on to say that, “US Black and African American employees earn $1.004 and Asian employees earn $1.012 for every $1.000 earned by U.S. rewards-eligible white employees with the same job title and level and considering tenure.”
“This pay equity data represents total pay. Our total pay analysis considers base, annual bonus, and stock awards at the time of annual rewards for rewards-eligible employees,” the report adds, so there are no accounting tricks. The end result of the Microsoft race-based pay policy is a substantive difference in total compensation for the same work performed.
