Sarcastic Hawaii Sign Chastises Biden For Kitchen Fire Comments

A sign on a Hawaiian business is going viral on social media for giving President Joe Biden a harsh reality check, as it calls him out for trying to compare a small kitchen fire at his home to the devastating wildfires in Maui that killed more than 100 people, including children.

In a Wednesday Facebook post, Hawaiian Rent-All shared a photo of its sign — which sarcastically states: “Sorry you almost lost your ’67 Corvette in a fire, Mr. President. Maui Strong!”

“Genuine sympathy is better than contrived empathy. It’s not always about you Mr. President,” the post’s caption read.

The rental company’s sign came in response to comments made by Biden during his six-hour visit to Maui earlier this week, where he gave a short speech at the Lahaina Civic Center. In the speech, the president attempted to compare a small kitchen fire at his Delaware home nearly 20 years ago to the deadly Maui wildfires — which killed more than 100 people and left roughly 1,000 people still unaccounted for, while causing billions of dollars in damages.

Speaking to the victims of this tragedy, Biden said: “I don’t want to compare difficulties, but we have a little sense, Jill and I, what it’s like to lose a home.”

“To make a long story short, I almost lost my wife, my ‘67 Corvette, and my cat. But all kidding aside, I watched the firefighters, the way they responded…And they ran into flames to save my wife and save my family. Not a joke,” he added.

Hawaiian Rent-All’s sign was shared to X, formerly known as Twitter — where it quickly went viral. Users responded to the sign, criticizing Biden for his tendency to make every crisis about himself.

“I love it. A classy way to remind him he’s not the center of the universe,” one user wrote.

“He tried to relate to people. But failed miserably,” another person wrote.

“It’s almost unbelievable to imagine our POTUS actually compared losing his’67 Corvette to losing your loved ones in a fire. But, there you have it… Reminds me of when he checked his watch when the bodies of our 13 Marines arrived home from Afghanistan,” a different user responded.

“In his defense, Koa, it’s not so much the Corvette as it is all the classified documents stored in it without any security, whatsoever, available for check-out and sharing with foreign powers hostile to the United States, as part of the Biden family crime syndicate,” another user replied.
