America’s top oil and natural gas association recently urged Democrats to put their radical climate change agenda on hold because it’s thwarting energy production in the U.S.
The CEO of the American Petroleum Institute (API), Mike Sommers, said during API’s annual State of the American Energy conference in Washington, D.C., that President Joe Biden and House Democrats could “spoil” America’s energy dominance if they continue promoting their “green” agenda.
“Washington is on the cusp of spoiling the American energy advantage, undermining it with short-sighted policies and hostility towards U.S. oil and natural gas,” Sommer said during the conference. “Our leaders are placing the American energy advantage at risk for future generations.”
House Republicans have gone after the president and Democrats for implementing radical leftist climate initiatives. Democrats have sought to ban power plants, vehicles, and home appliances as part of their efforts to protect the environment. They have even proposed measures to diminish or eradicate fossil fuels.
Sommers argued that as “war and instability continue” worldwide, the “global energy crisis does not,” despite criticizing the Biden administration’s anti-energy agenda.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. has produced a whopping number of renewables and fossil fuels, according to The Washington Times.
Speaking to reporters, Sommers said such an advancement in fossil fuel production is a “huge American success story.”
“Unfortunately, it’s happened despite Biden policies,” Sommers added.
Bottom line: Today, the U.S. leads the world in #oil and natural #gas production, but the American #energy advantage didn’t happen overnight. It happened because of decades of bipartisan commitment—and it won’t be sustained without the right energy policies from Washington. (3/3)

The API CEO continued by saying that energy and its effects on the economy are on the ballot in November 2024.
“Americans are going to the polls, and they know that energy is on the ballot and everything else that energy touches,” he said. “Jobs are on the ballot. American security is on the ballot. Manufacturing is on the ballot. Inflation is on the ballot.”
The Biden administration is eyeing 2035 as the year when car manufacturers will be forced to sell two-thirds of new vehicles as electric to establish a net-zero carbon emissions economy by 2050.
Sommers argued that the Biden administration’s lack of drilling leases on federal land would gravely impact the oil industry for years.
“In the absence of U.S. energy leadership, the world will likely turn to … dirtier fuels from unstable regions,” Sommers said. “Just as yesterday’s policies are felt today, today’s will be felt tomorrow.”
