Rep. James Comer (R-KY), who chairs the House GOP-led Oversight Committee, put out a press release on Thursday in which he put Oversight Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD) on blast because he allegedly acted as free legal assistance to the Biden family rather than looking into their potential corruption.
“Ranking Member Raskin is playing lawyer for the Biden family instead of engaging in real oversight for the American people,” begins the release. “When the facts don’t go the Biden family’s way, Ranking Member Raskin lodges baseless accusations. But unlike Ranking Member Raskin’s distortions, bank records don’t lie. Just a few weeks ago, when making public the Oversight Committee’s first subpoena to a bank, Ranking Member Raskin tried to brush away the documents as just purchases at Papa John’s and Starbucks, conveniently omitting, as just one example, a Chinese company’s $3 million wire to an associate of the Biden family who proceeded to transfer more than $1 million of it to various Biden family accounts. Given his antics with the first bank subpoena, the American people and media should be asking what information Ranking Member Raskin is trying to hide with his latest distraction. No one should be fooled by Ranking Member Raskin’s games. We have the bank records, and the facts are not good for the Biden family.”
As far as what these “antics” Comer is referring to are, RedState aptly pointed out that Raskin drafted a five-page letter on Thursday that lambasted Comer for his appearances on news outlets and “evasive treatment of witness information.”
According to Raskin, Comer withheld vital intel pertaining to a probe into alleged corruption by Joe Biden and his family. The Maryland representative reportedly claimed he was only briefed on two people who came forward with information about Hunter Biden’s shady investment firm, while Comer claimed to be working with four “whistleblowers” on national television.
Comer has defended his call to protect witnesses from Democrats in the Hunter Biden probe, citing a lack of trust in Raskin.
“Multiple individuals have approached the Oversight Committee as whistleblowers with a desire to share information confidentially,” Comer explained Thursday. “It should be no surprise that whistleblowers do not trust Ranking Member [Jamie] Raskin. He has revealed himself to be untrustworthy by releasing disingenuous, misleading financial information from the Committee’s investigation.”
