Melina Abdullah, Pan-African Studies Professor at Cal State University Los Angeles and co-founder of Black Lives Matter (BLM) Grassroots has issued a series of tweets calling Taylor Swift fans racist and asking if the Kansas City Chiefs winning the Super Bowl was a right-wing, white-supremacist conspiracy.

After beginning the series of tweets questioning whether or not it was “racist” to be a Taylor Swift fan, Abdullah tried to clarify her thoughts. Rather than changing her mind about Swift fans being racist, she simply wrote “I said FEEL, not think.”
I said FEEL, not think.
Kind of like that feeling I get when there are too many American flags.— Melina Abdullah (@DocMellyMel) February 13, 2024
Just a few hours after her initial post about Swift fans, and directly after the Super Bowl was over, Abdullah tweeted another controversial statement — this time about the Kansas City Chiefs winning the game.
“Why do I feel like this was some right-wing, white-supremacist conspiracy?!?! Booooooo!!!!” she wrote.

As Abdullah stirred up attention from Taylor Swift fans and others, she went even further with her tweets writing, “Folks think they’re attacking me by asking for why I think everything is racist…I’m not offended. Virtually everything is racist.”
The 51-year-old activist has been known for other attention-grabbing displays. She sued the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in 2020. On August 19 of that year, the LAPD received a call from someone claiming to be holding hostages in Abdullah’s home.
A SWAT team descended on the home, and in documents filed with the California Supreme Court, Abdullah said she “feared LAPD SWAT officers would fire their weapons into her home and hurt her children.” According to the Daily Mail, there were two other incidents where the SWAT team was called to her home.
More recently, Abdullah made the news when her lawsuit against the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation was thrown out as “frivolous” and Abdullah was ordered to pay more than $100,000 in legal fees for the organization.
With Taylor Swift’s popularity and Travis Kelce’s recent Super Bowl win, coming after the power couple was unexpected. In addition, Swift is known for her left-wing politics and is expected to join Abdullah in supporting President Joe Biden in the upcoming election.
