Biden Supporter Cardi B Complains About Inflation: Groceries ‘Tripling Up’

In a recent video posted to her Twitter, rapper Cardi B — who served as a surrogate for President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign — expressed her shock over the price of groceries.

During a typically profane rant, the rapper discussed why she decided to go public about her complaints over the price of food. Despite being well off, she said that her cost-conscious habits compelled her to speak out, especially because she worries about how people who are much less fortunate are handling inflation.

In the video posted Wednesday, Cardi B said that she has started to see the price of groceries “tripling up” — citing that the cost of lettuce was “like $2 a couple of months ago and now it’s like f—ing $7.”

“Of course, I’m going to say something,” she added.

The rapper noted that if she thinks that the prices are “crazy,” she “can only imagine what middle-class people or people in the hood” are thinking.

This isn’t Cardi B’s first post about inflation lately, as she sent out another tweet on Tuesday complaining that “grocery shopping prices are ridiculous right now.”

Many commenters responded by pointing out that the rapper had endorsed politicians like Biden and Bernie Sanders, whose radical ideas cause problems like this.

Another Twitter user shared a screenshot of Cardi B’s interview with Biden for Elle magazine while he was on the campaign trail in 2020, during which then-candidate Biden expressed his support for free healthcare and college.

During the interview, Cardi B said that she wanted free healthcare and college for all Americans, and Biden responded by saying: “There’s no reason why we can’t have all of that.”

Under the Biden administration, Americans have seen the price of essential goods — including food and energy — skyrocket, increasing at a rate that has not been seen in over four decades. According to Breitbart News, food prices in August 2022 saw the highest inflation since 1979, increasing by a shocking 12.4% from the year before.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that Cardi B has expressed frustration with the Biden administration after previously supporting the president. In June 2022, the rapper sent out a tweet questioning when “they going to announce” that the U.S. was “going into a recession.”
