Former President Donald Trump won the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday night and set a new record for the most votes ever received by a candidate in the Granite State nominating contest.
Famous pollster Rich Baris pointed out Tuesday that Trump not only set a new record but beat the previous record set by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) since his 2016 presidential campaign against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the Democrat presidential nomination.

Furthermore, Trump broke the record Tuesday “for the highest vote percentage as a share of the overall population in a New Hampshire Presidential Primary, surpassing the record of 11.32% set by [Sanders] in 2016,” according to Baris.
Sanders received 152,193 votes in 2016, overwhelmingly defeating Clinton in the New Hampshire primary that election cycle. Meanwhile, Trump has 152,565 votes as of the latest tally, with 13% still remaining to be uncounted.
The decisive win for Trump in New Hampshire is a clear victory over former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R), his last remaining competitor in the Republican presidential primary. After his decisive first-place win in the Iowa Caucus, the former president has sealed up his lead as the undisputed front-runner in the GOP’s 2024 presidential race.

The former governor — who Trump appointed during his first term in office as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, — had hoped to disrupt Trump’s lead with a strong showing among independents and Never Trump voters in New Hampshire. Haley did not back down from the primary after Tuesday night’s results, promising supporters “this race is far from over.”
The former president poked fun at Haley for giving a speech that he said felt more triumphant than was appropriate to her loss. He said, “somebody ran up to the state all dressed up nicely when [my lead] was at seven, but now I just walked up its at 14 — She was up and I said, ‘Wow, she’s doing a speech like she won. She didn’t. She lost.”
