Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) recently slammed California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) over his trip to China, where he met with the country’s dictator, Xi Jinping.
Of course, Newsom, who has destroyed California financially, educationally, and morally, would find the time to travel to China, where he was busy failing at playing basketball against children.

DeSantis told the Daily Mail that Newsom’s visit sends the dangerous message that the U.S. is willing to “grovel” at Jinping’s feet.
Newsom’s visit to China marks the first taken by a sitting governor since 2017 when then-California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) did so.
The Daily Mail reported that Newsom’s trip was conducted to discuss the climate “crisis,” economy, and human rights concerns.
“When I saw the photos, the thing that came to my mind was – you know, these are guys that are two peas in the pod with respect to COVID, draconian COVID policies,” DeSantis told the Daily Mail.
“They both had very lengthy lockdowns, curtailed people’s ability to work, go to school, all that,” DeSantis added while speaking in Las Vegas, Nevada. “I know California because a lot of people fled to Florida because of what he did.”
DeSantis is one of many in a crowded GOP presidential field who views China as America’s biggest threat and adversary.
Newsom, who many speculate is working behind the scenes to launch a presidential bid against President Joe Biden, is set to debate DeSantis on Nov. 30, 2023, in Georgia, with Fox News host Sean Hannity as a moderator.
“We’re ready [to debate],” DeSantis told the Daily Mail. “It’ll be fun, it will be a good debate for the country to have.”

Newsom and DeSantis have been trading barbs for quite a while now.
In June 2022, the California governor spent over $100,000 on advertisements to run on Fox News in Florida, which was presumably an effort to bring back the thousands of citizens who left “Commiefornia” for the breath of fresh air that is the Sunshine State, as reported by BizPacReview.
“Pass the popcorn for his desperate attempt to win back the California refugees who fled the hellhole he created in his state to come to Florida,” DeSantis’ campaign spokesperson, Dave Abrams, said at the time.

In September 2023, DeSantis blasted Newsom for California’s “decline.”
