Racism is what motivates Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) to send dozens of busses filled with illegal immigrants to Democrat-controlled cities. So claims Democrat Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and longtime left-leaning demagogue Reverend Al Sharpton in a recent MSNBC interview.
MSNBC host Sharpton claimed the practice of sending migrants to Democrat cities “puts a tremendous burden on [Johnson] and other Democratic mayors, I might add, many Black mayors have been the focal of this.”
“He is attacking democratically run cities, and particularly cities that are being led by Black leaders or leaders of color,” concurred Mayor Johnson.
Sharpton also noted that New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) has filed a $700 million lawsuit against bus companies that have been transporting immigrants to his city.
However, claims of racial motivations behind Gov. Abbott’s policy are not consistent with his actual implementation of said policy. He has also sent thousands of border crossers to cities whose leaders are White, such as Denver, Colorado. The capital of the Democrat state has a White mayor (Mike Johnston) and eight of thirteen City Council members are also White. This supports the narrative that Abbott’s chosen destinations are sanctuary cities—indeed Denver is such a city— and not those whose mayors and leadership are Black.
Johnson trying to make this about RACE. This is about being a sanctuary city. You wanted this!! Thank you Governor Abbott.
Mayor Johnson argues Gov. Abbott is intentionally 'attacking' 'leaders of color' by bussing migrants https://t.co/Yu0B60aTeo #FoxNews

It has also been pointed out that many “sanctuary” cities are happy to claim this status until they face the immigration crisis on a large scale. These cities, such as New York and Chicago, are located far from the southern border and thus they lack a full understanding of the magnitude of the problems faced by Texas.
Border states— front and center being Abbott’s Texas—bear the brunt of mass immigration enabled by President Biden’s policies. Despite reports that the President’s position has changed, Biden continues to refuse to work on a southern border wall. The insecure border has allowed cartels to operate freely in the United States and terrorize Texas ranch owners. The border crossers have included members of the infamous Salvadoran MS-13 gang, who are one of the most feared and ruthless threats who lurk among the masses of immigrants.
