Biden Claims He’s Solving Border Crisis In SOTU Speech

President Joe Biden on Tuesday claimed he is solving the border crisis despite the situation at the border getting worse, with thousands of illegal immigrants flooding the southern border. Biden made the claims during his State of the Union speech.

Biden stated, “We now have a record number of personnel working to secure the border, arresting 8,000 human smugglers and seizing over 23,000 pounds of fentanyl in just the last several months,” Biden said. “Since we launched our new border plan last month, unlawful migration from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela has come down 97%.”

While speaking in front of the entire Congress, Biden asked lawmakers to pass his plan to provide equipment and office to secure the border. He also urged lawmakers to provide a pathway to citizenship for dreamers, illegal immigrants who are farm or essential workers and those on temporary status.

Biden made his claim despite reports in January that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) encountered 251,487 illegal immigrants at the southern border in December 2022 alone. That figure marks the highest number of encounters in the nation’s history.

Border agents have also tallied 1.2 million migrants who got away after an illegal crossing since January 2021. The border crisis has gotten worse since

In a more damning assessment of Biden’s border crisis, CBP reports showed that border agents apprehended 38 people at the border who were either known terrorists, suspected terrorists or affiliated with both. The 38 suspects were arrested in just the final three months of 2022 while trying to cross into the country, according to the New York Post.

Agents apprehended 98 people whose names were on the terror watchlist in the fiscal year 2022. That number is expected to rise to 150 in the fiscal year 2023.
