White House Bans New York Post From Biden Event

The White House took the unusual step of banning the New York Post from a Monday press event in a move that many speculate was retribution for the outlet’s reporting of Hunter Biden’s legal issues.

The Post said it received an email stating “we are unable to accommodate your credential request to attend the Investing in Airline Accountability Remarks on 5.8. The remarks will be live-streamed and can be viewed at WH.gov.”

The outlet was informed that it would be notified if a credential became available. Photographs from the event published by the Post showed about 20 empty seats.

The Post was the first media to report back in Oct. 2020 on files contained in first son Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop. These revealing documents concerned family business dealings in China and Ukraine.

President Joe Biden has falsely characterized the Post’s journalism as “Russian disinformation,” a charge that has been thoroughly debunked.

The paper and the Democratic president have had a contentious relationship ever since. In February, Biden stormed out of a press conference after a Post reporter questioned his family’s links to China and their effects on White House policy.

The White House Press Corps is increasingly disenchanted with the way the Biden administration deals with the media. Over 70 reporters signed an open letter last year asking for wholesale changes.

Part of their issue is the way the White House pre-screens journalists. The criteria which this process is based on has not been revealed.

There is widespread speculation that the criminal investigation of Hunter Biden is drawing to a close. His legal team reportedly met with attorneys from the Justice Department on April 26 in what could be preparation for a decision on filing charges.

Congressional Republicans since assuming the House majority have been probing the ties between the president and Hunter’s many international business ventures. Bank records from Biden family associates have been subpoenaed and Suspicious Activity Reports are being reviewed.

The elder Biden was interviewed last week by MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle, who asked how charges against Hunter from the Justice Department would affect his presidency. The president responded that they will not, “because he has done nothing wrong.”
