Washington Female Prisoners Forced To Share Cells With Males

Female prisoners inside the Washington Corrections Center For Women (WCCW) revealed in video footage that biological males are gaining access to the prison through the state’s Transgender Housing Program while victimizing vulnerable women.

Washington State’s Department of Corrections (DOC) bragged it has been “a leader in the nation working with incarcerated transgender individuals providing gender-affirming care to include housing in gender-appropriate facilities.”

According to whistleblowers, DOC officials refused to disclose how many biological males have been put in state women’s prisons and are not taking allegations of men violating women in prisons seriously.

The whistleblowers shared the case of a “transgender” inmate who was charged with murdering three women and sentenced to Washington’s Gig Harbor facility, where he violated a disabled woman.

In 2022, two inmates at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, New Jersey, got pregnant from biological males.

An inmate at the Gig Harbor facility explained to the O’Keefe Media Group how Washington’s “gender-affirming” policies have negatively affected women.

The woman said that men who have killed women are put in their cells, arguing that there is “nothing you can do.”

“Imagine coming into your room one day and you’re in closed custody and you turn around, and there’s a man peeing in the toilet,” the woman said. “There’s nothing you can do!”

“Some of these men are not confused. They’re just manipulating the system,” she added. The woman argued that Washington’s policies appear to prioritize “trans rights” over the rights of biological women.

“They kind of cater to the trans community,” she explained.

“Somehow in this institution, they are adopting ways to apply these so-called mandated laws, that came out of nowhere to prohibit segregation for certain individuals,” a second whistleblower told O’Keefe Media Group.

O’Keefe said he “wrestled over the decision to publish the undercover footage of the women due to the potential for retaliation against them but determined that the story was too important to drop.”

Melissa Johnson, the Public Information Officer for the Washington Corrections Center for Women, deleted her Twitter account after O’Keefe published the video.

In March 2022, Washington’s State Legislature passed House Bill 1956, preventing the state’s DOC from revealing information about an inmate’s gender status or if they’re receiving “gender-affirming care.” A bill authored by state Republicans suggesting that inmates convicted of crimes against women should be banned from women’s prisons “went nowhere.”
