Retired Russian General Suggests Use Of Nuclear Torpedo

Retired Russian Gen. Yevgeny Buzhinsky recently went on a popular television program and discussed the possible use of a nuclear torpedo against the United States to create a massive radioactive tsunami.

The retired general discussed the potential use of the torpedo against the United States and Great Britain.

The comments came during the Russian television program “Evening with Vladimir Solovyov.”

Buzhinsky discussed the use of a number of Russian military systems, including the Poseidon nuclear torpedo.

The general explained that the torpedo had been tested, followed by a statement by Solovyov that it should be used.

“We would like to of course,” said Buzhinsky.

The Poseidon torpedo can carry a nuclear warhead and was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018.

The retired general said that the use of the Poseidon torpedo could result in a tsunami of more than 1,500 feet in height.

Solovyov interjected that “Great Britain will be no more.”

The retired general said that he was specifically speaking about the use of the weapon to destroy the United States.

Russia claims that the torpedo’s detonation could cause a radioactive tsunami. The nuclear-capable torpedo was not the only weapon discussed on the show.

Buzhinsky stated that the Burevestnik cruise missile, which is currently under development, should also be used against the United States and its allies.

“If they are impudent, we’ll see it in action,” he said.

The discussion regarding the possible use of Russian weapons follows a collision between an American drone and a Russian fighter jet, resulting in the crash of the drone. The United States summoned the Russian ambassador over the incident but so far there have been no visible signs of escalation.

Russia declared this week that it is attempting to recover the downed drone.

The concern also comes during a potentially critical part of the war between Russia and Ukraine, centering on the industrial city of Bakhmut. Both Russia and Ukraine see the city as a crucial part of the wider part of the fight over the Donbas region.
