Thibault is the FBI agent who is accused of political bias in connection with his role in the Hunter Biden laptop investigation. According to Newsweek, he was one of 13 assistant special agents investigating Biden’s laptop that was seized by the FBI in 2019, just ahead of the presidential election.
On July 25, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R.-IA) wrote these words to FBI Director Christopher Wray, “On May 31, 2022, I wrote to you regarding likely violations of Federal laws, regulations and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) guidelines by Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) Timothy Thibault of the Washington Field Office (WFO) based on a pattern of active public partisanship in his then public social media content.”
Grassley’s letter went on to say, “The information provided to my office involves concerns about the FBI’s receipt and use of derogatory information relating to Hunter Biden, and the FBI’s false portrayal of acquired evidence as disinformation. The volume and consistency of these allegations substantiate their credibility and necessitate this letter.”
On August 26, just one month after Grassley’s letter, Thibault resigned from the FBI after more than 25 years of service with the Bureau.
The letter sent to Thibault in light of the allegations show that the Biden laptop investigation is not going away, and if republican take over the house and/or senate at the midterm elections, they will have more power to pursue it.
“Whistleblowers have come to Congress alleging that you were part of a scheme to undermine and discredit allegations of criminal wrongdoing by members of the Biden family. Accordingly, we believe that you possess information relating to our investigation and we request your assistance with our inquiry,” wrote Jim Jordan (R.-OH) the ranking member of the committee.
According to the New York Post, someone close to Jordan’s office said, “Thibault is seemingly wrapped up in every whistleblower investigation. He’s tied to the Hunter Biden scandal, the January 6th investigation, and even Joe Biden’s phony quest to tackle ‘extremism’ throughout the United States. If Republicans take the majority, he will be a top target for Congressional inquires, and this preservation notice is the first step to doing just that.”
