Congress was presented this week with additional serious allegations suggesting political interference within the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ). These allegations, largely ignored by the corporate media, focused on the actions of Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland during an IRS investigation involving Hunter Biden, the president’s son.
The allegations stem from the testimony of an IRS whistleblower, Gary A. Shapley Jr., an IRS Criminal Supervisory Special Agent. According to transcripts of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee, Shapley provided damning evidence suggesting irregularities and potential political manipulation during the Hunter Biden investigation. Shapley asserted that the DOJ, contrary to Garland’s previous assertions, had interfered with efforts to probe into Hunter Biden’s tax violations.

A particularly eye-opening claim by Shapley alleges that Joe Biden was present when his son pressured a Chinese investor to transfer millions of dollars to them. This assertion strikes a devastating blow against Biden’s repeated claims of having “never discussed his family’s business interests.” Moreover, Shapley revealed that Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf blocked efforts to obtain a search warrant of Joe Biden’s home due to concerns over “optics.”

Shapley’s testimony further called into question Garland’s role in the case. Shapley claimed that Garland rejected a request to appoint a special counsel in the Hunter Biden investigation, seemingly contradicting Garland’s earlier statement to Congress about the autonomy of U.S. Attorney David Weiss in the probe.

The GOP members of the Ways and Means Committee have expressed concern that the DOJ appears to have obstructed justice by alerting the Bidens of potential lines of inquiry.
Perhaps the most disturbing revelation was the suggestion that the DOJ might have deliberately stalled the investigation to assist Joe Biden’s presidential campaign in 2020. Wolf is alleged to have warned Hunter Biden’s attorneys about a potential search of his business documents. If true, such a move directly compromised the effectiveness of the investigation.
The notion of political interference within the IRS and DOJ would strike a severe blow to the principles of fairness and justice we hold dear. In a nation governed by the rule of law, no individual, regardless of their political influence or family ties, should be above scrutiny.
In a time of widespread distrust in our institutions, these allegations, if proven true, will further erode public faith in our government. The American people deserve transparency and accountability from their leaders, and we should demand nothing less.
