Doocy Forces Jean-Pierre To Pretend Biden Didn’t Promise To End Fossil Fuels

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy once again caught White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre trying to cover for her boss — this time attempting to spin President Joe Biden’s position on fossil fuels.

Jean-Pierre was either trying to avoid admitting the truth or genuinely did not remember Biden’s past statements about ending fossil fuels when Doocy confronted her during Wednesday’s White House press briefing.

“You’re asking oil companies to further lower gas prices, what makes you think that they are going to listen to an administration that is ultimately trying to put them out of business?” the Fox News reporter asked.

“How is the administration trying to put them out of business?” Jean-Pierre responded.

“Well they produce fossil fuels and he says he wants to end fossil fuel,” Doocy replied, referencing comments made by Biden during the 2020 presidential campaign.

The press secretary went on to assert that oil production was on track to reach a record high in 2023, and called out oil companies — claiming that they could lower gas prices by increasing production because they had previously done it. Jean-Pierre conveniently avoided addressing Biden’s past comments about ending fossil fuels.

Doocy’s question came after Biden announced that he would be releasing an additional 15 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which he has been draining consistently as an attempt to alleviate high gas prices. While the president claims that his actions are an attempt to lower gas prices to help the American people, critics argue that he is trying to lower gas prices to help the Democrats win the midterms.

The Republican National Committee shared a clip of Jean-Pierre’s non-answer along with Biden’s comments vowing to stop fracking in the U.S. and end fossil fuels.

Jean-Pierre’s comments are even more bizarre considering the fact that she told Doocy back in June that the Biden administration still intended to end the United States’ reliance on fossil fuels.

Meanwhile, Biden and his allies have tried to pin the blame for high gas prices on everything except the Democrats’ disastrous policies — blaming the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the COVID-19 pandemic, greed of oil companies and even individual gas station owners. Unfortunately for the president, polls show that many more Americans blame his policies than they do other causes.
