Big Names Are Criticizing Trump Indictment

Numerous prominent public figures have come out against the indictment of former President Donald Trump or at the very least offered their support, including Mexican President Andres Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), Twitter CEO Elon Musk, and even Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

AMLO slammed the weaponization of the justice system against Trump, arguing that legal proceedings should not be interfering with elections.

These remarks by the Mexican president came after Trump was arraigned Tuesday, pleading not guilty to 34 felony counts put up by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. All 34 of the charges reportedly stem from a single alleged payment in 2016 that Trump wired to Stormy Daniels via his then-attorney, Michael Cohen.

“Supposedly legal issues should not be used for electoral, political purposes. That’s why I don’t agree with what they are doing to ex-President Trump,” AMLO opined, according to The Hill. “It should be the people who decide.”

A head of state across the Atlantic, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, appeared to agree. Orban posted a photo of himself shaking hands with Trump, writing online, “Keep on fighting, Mr. President! We are with you.”

Meanwhile, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele noted that filing charges against an opposition leader in the U.S. makes the country appear ridiculous as it tries to force its supposed democratic values on other nations.

“Sadly, it’ll be very hard for US Foreign Policy to use arguments such as ‘democracy’ and ‘free and fair elections’, or try to condemn ‘political persecution’ in other countries, from now on,” he proclaimed.

Also in the mix is Telsa CEO Elon Musk, who posted a meme online to joke about the left’s hatred of former President Trump, captioning it, “If the Dem Party had a time machine.”

Last month, the tech mogul pointed out Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s blatant financial ties to leftist billionaire George Soros.

“Soros figured out a clever arbitrage opportunity,” he observed. “The many small political contests, such as DAs & judges, have much higher impact per dollar spent than the big races, so it is far easier to sway the outcome.”

Musk previously predicted that the former president would win the 2024 presidential election in a “landslide victory” should he ultimately be put in handcuffs.
