On Thanksgiving, President Joe Biden announced his plan to drastically reduce Second Amendment freedoms by banning “semiautomatic” firearms after the latest shootings. The recent shootings at a gay nightclub and Walmart store manager are the latest tragedies in Biden’s use to push his long-standing gun ban agenda. The POTUS said he is sick of the shootings and the idea that red flag laws aren’t enforced. Therefore, the U.S. needs “much stricter gun laws.”
Biden’s use to push his long-standing gun ban agenda. The POTUS said he is sick of the shootings and the idea that red flag laws aren’t enforced. Therefore, the U.S. needs “much stricter gun laws.”
Biden continued his rant by saying that allowing semiautomatic weapons to be purchased is “just sick and has no social redeeming value.” He says the only rationale for guns is the profit of manufacturers. The POTUS has been pushing to ban firearms, including handguns, since the mid-90s.
Among the Semiautomatics, Biden and other Democrats don’t believe any weapon with the ability to fire 20-120 shots is necessary. Eliminating the sale of pistols and hand rifles has been the goal for decades. Fortunately, Biden knows this is unlikely to be passed as law anytime soon. He has suggested a “rational policy” for now, limiting the number of clips in a weapon. Eventually, Democrats would like to ban clips with multiple bullets altogether. The president has also suggested that those who hunt do not need high-capacity magazines because “deer do not wear Kevlar vests.”
Critics are fuming at the proposed bans as semiautomatic weapons include various gun sales in the U.S. that good citizens purchase for good reasons. Hollywood actor James Woods tweeted, “so essentially all guns are on the Big Guy’s chopping block.” Other users asked if there were any guns the president would not ban. U.S. Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) said Biden was “maligning most gun owners.” Most Americans rejected House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) when she proposed significant gun control measures.
Banning semi-automatic guns, as Biden proposes here, would make illegal an overwhelming number of rifles, pistols, and shotguns.

With the Republicans in control of the House in the next Congress, it is unlikely this will ever come to pass. The president says he will decide his next move about new gun laws as he counts votes. Ultimately, he said, “I’m going to try to get rid of assault weapons.”
